Hempen began as an idea – to form a resilient rural community centred around the cultivation of hemp. We’d heard that this miracle plant could do so much, clothe us, house us, fuel us, feed us and heal us. So we wanted to practically work with hemp in a holistic, ethical and regenerative way.
Our mission is to co-operatively cultivate hemp solutions to enhance the health of the people, our communities and the land.
In 2015 Hempen was established as a not-for-profit worker’s co-operative. The first seeds of hemp were sown in a 30 acre field and the first tender sprouts of community started to show.
The story of a hemp crop of hope travelled far and wide and brought people with the same dreams together. Some of those first arrivals are still here today. Many more continue to visit.
Seed to bottle
Step one
It starts with certified organic hemp, grown to organic standards without synthetic pesticides or fertilisers.
Step two
The hemp is mechanically cold pressed, with no heat and no solvents. That keeps the oil raw and full spectrum, with its natural CBDA left intact.
Step three
Every batch is independently lab tested and the results published, then bottled in amber glass with a pipette for easy, measured use.
Our Cold Pressed CBD Oil is made by mechanically pressing certified organic hemp, with no heat and no solvents. Nothing is refined out, so the oil stays raw and full spectrum, close to the plant it came from.
It comes down to how they’re made, and you’ll taste the difference. Cold Pressed is raw and full spectrum, pressed without heat so it keeps the plant’s natural CBDA, giving a dense, deeply green and earthy oil. Smooth Organic CBD Oil uses a broad spectrum extract for a lighter, golden oil with floral notes. Both are blended with our own organic hemp seed oil, certified organic and lab tested every batch.
Full spectrum means the oil keeps the range of compounds found naturally in hemp, which can include trace amounts of THC. These are tiny amounts, within UK legal limits, and every batch is lab tested to confirm it. It won’t get you high. If you’re subject to workplace drug testing, it’s worth checking with your employer before using any full spectrum product.
Shake the bottle, place drops under your tongue with the pipette, hold for a moment, then swallow. Follow the serving guidance on the label, and most people find it easiest as part of a daily routine. If you're pregnant, breastfeeding or taking medication, speak to your doctor before use.

All of our food products are certified organic by the Soil Association. We believe food should be organic and nutritious, especially if you’re seeking products to improve your health.
Hemp is naturally vegan, we are a vegan brand, so all our products are too. In fact, hemp seeds and hemp oil are packed with essential fatty acids including the ‘golden ratio’ of omega 3,6 & 9 great for brain health, it’s the alternative to consuming fish! We use Hemp Seed Oil in all our CBD products. Hemp Seeds, are also a full protein. As we see it, the growth of hemp supports the growth of the vegan movement.
Hemp naturally does not contain gluten, therefore our products are gluten-free! The combine machinery is shared with other plant crops, even though it is cleaned we cannot guarantee use for coeliacs.
