No worries – if your payment is not going through, you can pay by BACS. Drop us an email on shop@hempen.co.uk and we’ll give you all the details to pay by BACS instead.
Our payment provider uses 3D Secure authentication as part of their online payment security. It’s an added layer of security to protect against fraud, in which you may be asked to input an extra password. Read more about it here. Great for protecting us all, but pretty annoying if your card doesn’t work. And because banks and payment providers are extra cautious around cannabis, hemp and CBD product sales, we’re not able to change the level of authentication required from you when we take your card details. There are a few reasons it might not work for you personally:
  • If you have a pop-up blocker, it may be preventing a 3D Secure password page from opening.
  • Your bank isn’t enrolled in the 3D Secure verification programme, or your card doesn’t have it enabled – you’ll need to check directly with them.
Apologies if you’re having difficulties, and that we can’t reduce the level of security required – but hopefully we can still get you your hemp goods! Drop us an email to shop@hempen.co.uk to easily pay by BACS instead.

Delivery

Check out the postage costs on our Delivery & Returns page.
We ship to the UK & British Isles.
You are welcome to order products here in the UK and then ask friends to send it to you within the EU as a gift, that’s all good. It’s currently the best way to send our products there at this time. We advise only to ship to neighbouring countries to stay true to our ethics, local grown foods with short transport systems building sustainable and regenerative resilient foods systems. Look out for your local hemp missionaries!
For more information and prices, have a look at our delivery and returns policy here.
We produce high quality products that we hope you’ll love. If for some reason you would like to return an item, please review our Returns & Refunds policy. Provided that the item is returned unopened in the condition it was received, we offer refunds within 30 days of purchase.

Products

Hemp and CBD products. Hemp is an amazingly versatile plant, believed to have over 25,000 known uses! We focus on the nutrition, health and well-being uses of hemp.
Hempen is a worker co-operative. Together, we have been growing hemp (when allowed by the Home Office) and create organic products from hemp cosmetics and hemp based superfoods, on organic certified farmland in an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty in Oxfordshire. Having control over the end-to-end process, from seed to shelf, means we can guarantee unparalleled quality of our products. They’ll always be produced from 100% organic hemp, non-GMO, free of pesticides, heavy metals and synthetic cannabinoids, supporting UK & British Isles farmers.
One day, hemp will be in so many products it will be hard to find one that doesn’t have it in! Well, that’s our dream, anyway. For now, here at Hempen we’re concentrating on expanding the products we already have, in our CBD, Food and Cosmetics ranges. That said, at the farm we’re always thinking about new products, and are currently testing some of our ideas out, including edible treats. We’d love to be producing textiles, paper, packaging, buildings and all sorts – and we’re working towards it each day!
Direct from us via our online shop, at one of our events or markets, or at a local stockist. If you are a retailer and would like to contact us about stocking our range of hemp goodies, please check here for details.
You can find a calendar, showing all our upcoming food shows, farmers’ markets and other events here.
Yes, yes and yes! All of our food products are certified organic by The Soil Association. Containing no animal derivatives, we are proud to be a vegan brand. In fact, hemp seed – with its range of omega essential fatty acids – is a better alternative to eating fish! It’s also really high in protein. As we see it, the growth of hemp supports the growth of the vegan movement. Hemp does not contain gluten, and we are in the process of becoming certified gluten-free.
Our hemp plants grow in fields near fields of other crops, so we unfortunately cannot guarantee that there won’t be minor trace amounts of gluten. For this reason, we do not advise our products for people who are celiac.

CBD

You can find out lots of information about CBD here.
CBD is perfectly legal and safe to use in the UK & British Isles. CBD has no known side effects and is not addictive. It is legal to import and buy CBD in the UK, but it is not legal to produce CBD from hemp grown here. Keep up to date with the latest hemp industry news with our newsletter (sign up in the footer of the website) or read our Grow Hemp Campaign – Overgrow The Regime page HERE.
THC is a psychoactive substance, found naturally in the Cannabis plant. UK law permits only strains of the Cannabis Sativa plant that are very low in THC (less than 0.01%). This means you won’t feel any psychoactive effects, and none of our products will get you ‘high’. All our CBD products are lab tested to ensure the finest quality and that we always meet government regulations.
Some of our CBD products are sold as ‘cosmetics’ and we are restricted by not being able to give any medical advice regarding CBD benefits. Please read the info provided with each product in our online CBD shop. Lots of studies are taking place into the many potential benefits of CBD, and there is a wealth of information available online, including peer-reviewed scientific studies. We recommend doing your own research, and provide some information as a starting point here.

Advice on Growing and Processing hemp

Definitely. We support the growth of the global hemp movement and offer a consultancy service to help others learn from our experience. For more information, please send us some details about you/your company and what kind of support or advice you need, to info@hempen.co.uk. We are particularly keen to support other co-operatives.

Visiting the farm

Absolutely. We welcome volunteers all year round for anything from a day visit to two weeks with accommodation. Take a look at our volunteering page for more information, and to apply. Please note, we work Monday-Friday and we don’t accept new volunteers just for a weekend.
Bear with us, as our Volunteer Co-ordinator works 1 day a week. Please do send a follow-up email in case and show your interest.
Yes, very much so, we see it as a trade. If you would like to come to the farm, please fill in a volunteer form and let us know what skills you have. Please provide a written explanation of what exactly you would like to research and why. It would be ideal for you to come volunteer on the farm for a few day visits if you live nearby, or come and stay for a short period – from 3-5 days. As you offer your skills and help us onsite, in the office or outdoors on the farm, we will share our knowledge with you. We also ask for a written promise to share your finished work with us upon completion.
